Which one would you choose?

Posted by Pat on August 25, 2013 in Uncategorized |

life and kermitmistakes or experiencessmall stepsyou are rightIt’s the last Sunday of the month, a time life is like a rainbowI look forward to because it’s when I get to share some of my favorite life quotes!

There are so many great thoughts as well as so many great images to go with them, that I do find it difficult to limit myself to just eight of them per post.

(But that does leave me lots  of choices for next month!)

And I love that you continue to contribute to my “stash” of possibilities!

So, do you have a favorite from the above possibilities?

Do you have a different favorite you can share with us?

I think that it’s fun…

  • to open our minds,
  • to think about what we believe,
  • to decide what we find meaningful, and
  • to choose what we find humorous!

Do you agree?

Enjoying the Dog Days of Summer!

Posted by Pat on August 18, 2013 in Uncategorized |

Sometimes we complain about how warm it can get here in the valley! But we do know that it is the “dog days” of summer! Our lethargic and lazy feelings are historically validated by the ancient Egyptians and Romans, as they marked that the dog star Sirius in the constellation Canis Major AND the sun were both […]

Do you know a “southpaw” or are you one?

Posted by Pat on August 11, 2013 in Uncategorized |

In commemoration of International Left Handers Day on August 13, I’d like to give all of us southpaws kudos! The tag line is: Celebrate your right to be left-handed!   The day August 13th is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world. It celebrates our uniqueness and difference-we […]

How do you perceive that glass of yours?

Posted by Pat on August 4, 2013 in Uncategorized |

We’re all familiar with the metaphorical story of two people looking at the same glass and one perceiving it as half-full while the other sees it as half-empty. And, we often miss the point, as shown in this note! But it’s still a valuable exercise to really observe our minds and notice whether we’re engaged […]

A statue to the boll weevil?!

Posted by Pat on July 21, 2013 in Uncategorized |

The tiny town of Enterprise, Alabama, is famous for its Boll Weevil Monument, a large monument of a woman holding a boll weevil, located in the middle of Main St. The insect decimated the cotton crops of the South in the early 1900s, which was a devastating blow to the farmers. The statue has  a […]

Does positive thinking really work?

Posted by Pat on July 14, 2013 in Uncategorized |

You’ve heard the advice/clichés:   But do you believe they really work? Is it all just “Pollyanna” thinking?     Well, are you familiar with this fascinating experiment done by Harvard psychologist Ellen Langer back in 1981? She and her colleagues piled two groups of men in their seventies and eighties into vans, drove […]

What’s Your Comfort Zone?

Posted by Pat on July 7, 2013 in Uncategorized |

Everyone has one! It’s that place where we feel safe, where we know what to do and how to do it without a sense of risk. And we tend to stay inside those mental boundaries because to step outside of it means going into unknown territory. And that often makes us anxious. In biology it […]

In celebration…

Posted by Pat on June 30, 2013 in Uncategorized |

Last year at this time I deliberated much like this cartoon: But I’m celebrating now! It’s actually surprising to me that I’ve been blogging weekly for a whole year! I hope you enjoy reading the posts as much as I am enjoying creating them. And as I look back, you readers seemed to respond most enthusiastically […]

Making Your Own Summer

Posted by Pat on June 23, 2013 in Uncategorized |

Yes, it’s official! summer is here! The Summer Solstice on Thursday, June 21, was the day of the greatest light (with fourteen to sixteen hours of daytime, even if the sun was hidden by the clouds and rain here in our Walla Walla Valley!) Our whole planet was turned fully to the brilliance of the sun. A millennium of […]
