What are you doing with your “time out?”

hourglass for timeout

Sometimes time passes quickly and sometimes it passes slowly. Even “time outs” are experienced differently, depending on whether you are the one sitting out or the parent who called for it!

When do you finally call “time out?”

Sometimes I wait too long, trying to hold it all together, thinking “it” will get better. I guess admitting I need a timeout  would mean I’m not as calm, cool, and collected as I’d like to be so I continue to fake being in control.

Do you find it easy or difficult to call time out?

What do you do with your “time out?”

When (and if) I’m smart, I do some deep breathing, some conscious muscle relaxing, and give myself permission to do nothing for 10 minutes (or whatever time I think it will take me.) Sometimes that even means taking a nap!

I don’t really want to waste any of my limited time on unhappiness, regret, anger, boredom, fear or depression and I’m sure you don’t either!

 life is short

Every day of life is invaluable. Don’t waste one.

If we live to age 90, how many days do we have left?

Add them up. it’s really not that many, is it?

Don’t waste any part of any of them!

Let’s do everything in our power to enjoy every single day-to treat every day like it is the most valuable, remarkable, exquisite gift we could every receive.

IT IS!

And, since there is really only “now” to experience, we can choose to make each moment/day/week/month/year as

  • lively, lincoln quote
  • peaceful,
  • meaningful,
  • fun, or
  • astonishing…as we want!

What will put the life in your years?

Compared to..?

Posted by Pat on August 16, 2015 in Uncategorized |

I’ll bet you know someone(s) who is brighter than you, is cuter than you, or is more creative than you. Then there are  the folks who are on the other end of the  scale who have less money, have more health issues, or  have more dysfunctional family members.  So what? What is the comparison for? Do […]

Laughorisms

Posted by Pat on August 9, 2015 in Uncategorized |

The upside of being a blogger who has just passed a milestone birthday, is that I get to spout some of my vast accumulated wisdom. (After all, this blog is called WisdomEnough.com ) But my accumulated wisdom may only be, as the punsters would say, half-vast. So my foolproof method for acquiring all the valuable […]

New tweaks on an old idea…

Posted by Pat on August 2, 2015 in Uncategorized |

How many tweaks have you heard on the “glass half full or half empty” idea? Here’s some you might relate to depending on your outlook, your mood, and how your day is going! Are you one of these?                        Or maybe you are a realist?                    Now here’s still another […]

Peace is always a nanosecond away

Posted by Pat on July 26, 2015 in Uncategorized |

It takes no time at all to take a breath, to move our attention away from the dramas and worries that consume us, to notice and be, rather than engage. It’s the special stopping of the momentum of programmed habits and the relief that comes from expanding into just being. In the moment of being aware, […]

If the shoe (message?) fits…

Posted by Pat on July 19, 2015 in Uncategorized |

I have often found myself being both an example AND a warning! And here’s some other fun quotes I found that applied to me. You might find they apply to you, too!             Ouch! I’m sure I’m not the only one who has experienced the missed moment, the words that shouldn’t […]

We’re half way there!

Posted by Pat on July 12, 2015 in Uncategorized |

How has your year been so far? It’s sometimes difficult for me to acknowledge that half the year has already passed! I’m just like this kitten-overwhelmed. But it is a good time to reflect on how the year has unfolded. We often act as if we had all the time in the world, when we really do know […]

Can You Be Like Water?

Posted by Pat on July 5, 2015 in Uncategorized |

Bruce Lee originated his famous metaphor, be like water, after his period of frustration with his inability to master “the art of detachment” that his teacher was trying to impart to him. We could all use “water” as a lesson!   I am struck by his story as he recounts,  After spending many hours meditating […]

Celebrate the In-Between Times!

Posted by Pat on June 28, 2015 in Uncategorized |

“Real life” most often happens during the in-between times when we are not celebrating a special occasion. This coming month’s occasions for me include my birthday and my wedding anniversary! And this month was both my grandson’s graduation from high school and my stepson’s birthday and anniversary. So, I guess I’m in one of my in-between times. […]

Time is beyond our control?

Posted by Pat on June 21, 2015 in Uncategorized |

Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives or what we wish it would do. Time management is an oxymoron! ( a combination of contradictory or incongruous words) Our days are identical suitcases—all the same size—but some can pack more into them than others. No one […]
