Who changed?

Our images of Mother…

4 years old:  My Mommy can do anything!

8 years old:  My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 years old: My Mother doesn’t really know quite everyhing.

14 years old: Naturally, Mother doesn’t know that, either.

16 years old: Mother? She’s hopelessly old-fashioned.

18 years old: That old woman? She’s way out of date.

25 years old: Well, she might know a little bit about it.

35 years old: Before we decide, let’s get Mom’s opinion.

45 years old: Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 years old: Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

I miss my Mom.

I love that poem, I look at it often. It is really true, we miss them so much when they are not here any more.

I love that poem as well. It is a good reminder for me as I help care for my mom. She moved into an assisted living facility a few months ago, but I still visit almost daily. There are always challenges and situations to deal with. I am humbled when I think of those who are no longer able to visit their mothers. I am grateful I still have her!
