What are the Dog Days?

It’s summer time (and the living is easy? You know what that means…lots of fun, vacations, picnicking, sunbathing, lazing around.
But also, potentially, the utter collapse of any of our momentum and productivity.
It’s true, the dictionary even defines the “Dog Days of Summer” as “lethargy, inactivity or indolence.” And it’s from early July to early September.
This is just the part of that normal cycle that we forgot about temporarily this last winter. The ebb and flow of activities, emotions, ideas, decisions are all just part of our summer shift in energy. It’s the tide moving both in and out. It’s natural! It’s even healthy!
Let’s give ourselves permission to enjoy it…I have!
After all, it is the best way to be in the moment, which is the best time to be in! (And it’s not all that long before fall and school time arrives.)
So…if you are being bugged by your
- to-do list that is still undone,
- lethargy and laziness,
- urge for distractions, any distractions, or
- chatterbox voice in your head that’s berating you for all the above,
…then just kick back and take a lesson from your pup, your kitten, or your youngster and revel in this brief season!

Life is good, very good, and especially our lives, right now!
So share what you are doing to enjoy this gift of the season, this warm but relaxing time of year before time moves on to fall!
