Reading Rights, Part B!
Perhaps my background is warped! After all, I was an English teacher and I have owned a bookstore! So perhaps reading is an inflated value that I have?
I am blessed with the love of reading and read I do-a lot!
- Science fiction,
- romance,
- histories,
- biographies,
- how-to,
- philosophy..
- I’ve even been accused of reading the back of cereal boxes!
One of my favorite quotes is this one from Mark Twain:
“The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.”
(And that goes for “woman” and for “child” and anyone else you’d like to include!)
Here’s some more of our rights!
The right to read wherever, whenever, and however we want!
The right to skip pages…
The right to not finish it if we don’t like it!
The right to not have to defend our taste
And one of my favorites: the right to read out loud joyously!
Does reading make you joyous?
- or is it perhaps music,
- or dance,
- or jogging,
- or..?

Reading has been my passion since I learned to read!
Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, Ayn Rand, Frances Parkinson Keyes, and so many others along the way. I even enjoy writing and editing (my own or others writing). Those who don’t read miss the best of life.
Reading was my great escape as a child my love for reading has not waned over the years however now I go in spurts sometimes I read book after book then I take a break and don’t read for awhile. However it is how I have learned so much in my life to read. What a gift.
Cecelia AND Meg, those of us who know the pleasures of reading and all its delightful benefits are indeed blessed!
