Ridiculous headlines?
Does anyone other than an ex-English teacher notice these kinds of things? I’ve often wondered who proofreads the headlines, or even the content on some of the articles in the newspaper.
On the other hand, I do find many of them funny and some even make me feel superior!
“Red tape holds up new bridges” Does that mean there’s something stronger than duct tape?
“Police begin campaign to run down jaywalkers” And they think that will teach them?
“Juvenile court to try shooting defendant” Maybe that will work better than a fair trial?
“Panda mating fails; veterinarian takes over” (what a guy!)
“If strike isn’t settled quickly, it may last awhile“
“Hospitals are sued by 7 foot doctors”
“War dims hope for peace”
I have to admit I do find what we do to (and with) our language funny and fun!
And I sometimes wonder if other folks even notice!

Much food for thought. It’s hard not to see these.
Thx, Pat
