Making a list and checking it twice
We’ve heard it a number of times (and it’s not just advice for Christmas!)
“Measure twice; cut once.”
“Please review your order before hitting the ‘Complete Order’ button.”
“Double check your answers.”
It’s not about “second guessing” ourselves; it’s simply about taking that extra second to make sure our i’s have been dotted and our t’s have been crossed.
We’ve all hit “send” on an email too quickly without attaching the item we referenced in the body of our message. If you’ve ever printed a document you created and found a typo after it was sent, you’ve no doubt felt that twitch, knowing that the mistake could have been avoided.
We are living in an on-demand world. Folks want things when they want them, but we want to ensure that the items, service, and advice we are giving them are actually what we intended.
We want to be happy with what we do.
So…we think about what we’re saying. We watch carefully what we are doing. We listen clearly to what others are saying. If we need to clarify or ask for clarification, we want to do it before we get into trouble. As coaching legend John Wooden said,
We don’t have to let the increasing busyness of the season take over! We can choose to relax and take a couple of deep breaths.
We can smile to ourselves as we remember that it’s always our choice whether we will allow the energy of others to impact our sense of peace, our enjoyment of the moment, our experience of being blessed to just be.
Let’s just be here now.
Let’s just be here.
Let’s just be.

Good message for the season and just everyday living. Thank you Pat.
I began “downsizing” my Christmas activities 50 years ago when I found that doing so resulted in fewer or no Holiday colds or flu. These days I look to find what’s real and meaningful to me as well as to those I love. That’s where my energy, and my money, go.
