The rules for being human

Posted by Pat on March 11, 2018 in Uncategorized |

  1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period of this time around.
  2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.
  3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error: experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately “works.”
  4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.
  5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
  6. “There” is no better than “here.” When your “there” has become a “here,” you will simply obtain another “there” that will again look better than “here.”
  7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.
  8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
  9. Your answers live inside you. The answers to Life’s questions live inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.
  10. You will forget all this.
  11. You can remember it whenever you want.

Emptiness can be a good thing

Posted by Pat on March 4, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Does your fuel tank ever run empty? Is your life filled with places to go, things to do, people to see, goals to achieve..? Are you cramming your schedule, home, head and belly until they are too full? Do you chronically over schedule yourself? If everything is too full, you need to let there be […]

Angels as explained by children

Posted by Pat on February 25, 2018 in Uncategorized |

As they say…”No one says it better than a child” and here’s what some of them have said! I only know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold. Gregory, age 5 Everybody’s got it all wrong. Angels don’t wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it. Olive, age 9 All […]

The buzzard, bat, bumblebee and us

Posted by Pat on February 18, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Though I can’t vouch for the truth of the animal’s behavior, I love the message in this short story shared in a friend’s email! THE BUZZARD If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability […]

Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day

Posted by Pat on February 11, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Who knew?! I didn’t! Today, February 11th, is a holiday based on our English language idiom crying over spilled milk, which means to be upset over something that cannot be undone. I don’t know about you, but I think I need this. We all need a little reminder sometimes-to take a deep breath, clean up […]

2 things I know about you and me…

Posted by Pat on February 4, 2018 in Uncategorized |

ONE: You are capable of more than you think. TWO: AND it will take more work than you think. I know the first one because this has been true of everyone I’ve ever met. (And it’s true of me too!)  We are the worst judges of what we are capable of and each of us has another gear, a […]

Recognize this song?

Posted by Pat on January 28, 2018 in Uncategorized |

There’s some great life lessons everywhere we look!           I bet you can guess what childhood song all these” lessons” refer to!             Wayne Dyer used the childhood song “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” to emphasize that we should… ROW…take some action, don’t just think about […]

“Have to” or “Get to”?

Posted by Pat on January 21, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Do you ever find yourself saying I have to… I should… I must… and how does that make you feel? Wouldn’t you rather feel light than heavy? Then look at your obligations with a different attitude. Obligations: feeding your cat/dog/kids/or any living creature who depends upon you for food. showing up at your job so […]

Letting Go means…

Posted by Pat on January 14, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Do you find it hard to let go? It’s a lesson I am still learning… LETTING GO(D) doesn’t mean not caring, it means not taking responsibility for someone else. LETTING GO(D) doesn’t mean cutting myself off from others, it means realizing that I can’t control others. LETTING GO(D) doesn’t mean caring for, it means caring […]

Your “Not-To-Do” list

Posted by Pat on January 7, 2018 in Uncategorized |

Do you ever make a “Not-To-Do” list? A Not-to-Do list is a basic tool which seeks to reduce the amount of time we waste, and to focus our time and energy on achieving results. After all, how much time does Facebook really need?) Here’s quote I found (don’t know who said it) that you might think about: […]
