Are both true?
Words reflect thoughts. And many of our thoughts are contradictory! Here are some fun sayings that I’ve used (and even believed at different times)! How about you?
“Look before you leap” or…“He who hesitates is lost”?
What about “Hitch your wagon to a star” or…“Don’t bite off more than you can chew”?
What about “The squeaky wheel gets the grease” or…“Silence is golden”?
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder” or...“Out of sight out of mind”?
“Don’t judge a book by its cover” or…“Clothes make the (wo)man”?
Is it “Better to be safe than sorry” or...“Nothing ventured, nothing gained”?
“Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today” or…“Don’t cross the bridge until you get to it”?
“Too many cooks spoil the broth” or…“Two heads are better than one”?
Can you think of other contradictory sayings?
Do any of these sayings especially “speak” to you?

Great idioms! Do you ever wonder who was the very first person to express each of them?
