And what are YOU doing this weekend?
It’s interesting that Europeans have more and longer holidays that we do!
Maybe that’s why we make such a big deal of those we do have!
The European Union countries guarantee a minimum of 20 paid vacation days. While we here in the US get an average of 9 paid vacation days and just 6 paid holidays!
And have you noticed that many of us Americans seem to go to one extreme or the other?
- We choose to cram the days full with either fun or home projects, or
- We choose to totally relax and make sure we don’t do anything that might look like work!
This particular weekend however is a reminder that however we choose to celebrate, we owe our current lives to those who have fought to preserve our way of life.
It’s not about whether we believe in war, not just about grief over loved ones, and not just about our barbeque celebrations.
This is a holiday to remember people. We remember the sacredness of human life. Life that was given. Life that was taken. Life that goes on.
Remembering lives gone, and also enjoying our present lives, we can be grateful. And remember.
