And the good news is…
Here’s some very good news: beliefs are malleable. They can be changed.
In the end, it takes some time to create new beliefs, but what you are really doing is creating a new you. Tossing out those old beliefs (like I’m too old, I don’t know how, I don’t deserve it) and carving out new ones will be worth it.
Though we hold strongly to our beliefs, we need to know that they are not carved in stone. They are only carved in clay!
For example, is something stopping you from sticking to a regular exercise habit? (like it’s too hard, I don’t know what to do, I never stick to anything)
Here are some suggested new beliefs that you could try on (just like getting a new workout outfit):
- I’m happier when I am outdoors and moving.
- I feel stronger, more powerful, more empowered, more energized, when I exercise regularly.
- I love the sense of accomplishment that comes with a good workout.
- My health matters more to me than going online or watching tv.
But if exercise isn’t YOUR issue then…
how about healthy eating? Or maybe having a regular meditation practice? Or that long-overdue cleaning out of the garage?
You can try out some new beliefs that can result in new behaviors! Say these new beliefs to yourself. Write them down. Put them into action. Reinforce those actions.
The good news is that we are always at choice! We affect our lives by the choices we make and the choices we make come from the beliefs we’ve chosen.
So…what new belief are you willing to choose?
